METHOD OF PRODUCTION OF WATER-SOLUBLE POLYSACCHARIDES FROM LEAVES OF WAYBREAD Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC C08B37/00 

FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises extracting of plant raw material with purified hot water, precipitation of water-soluble polysaccharides, their washing, drying, double holding of repeated extraction of plant raw material, separation of the plant material, precipitation of water-soluble polysaccharides, filtering the precipitate, washing and drying. The leaves of waybread are ground to the dimension of 1 mm. Extraction is carried out with a ratio of raw material:extractant of 1:20 with treatment in an ultrasonic bath with a frequency of 35 kHz for 20 minutes at a temperature of 80°C. Repeated extraction is carried out at a ratio of raw material:extractant of 1:20 and 1:10. Then, the plant material is separated by filtration. Water-soluble polysaccharides are precipitated with triple amount of 95% ethanol under stirring and heating on a water bath to 30°C for 5 min. After 30 minutes the precipitate is filtered through a previously dried ashless paper filter under vacuum at a residual pressure of 0.4-0.8 atm. Then the precipitate is washed on the filter successively with 15 ml solution of 95% ethanol in purified water (3:1) in a ratio of raw material:solution of 1:15 and 10 ml of mixture of ethyl acetate and 95% ethanol (1:1) in a ratio of raw material:solution of 1:10. The filter with the precipitate is dried in air and then at a temperature of from 100 to 105°C to constant weight.

EFFECT: increase target product yield and reducing the duration of the extraction process of water-soluble polysaccharides that have expectorant, gastroprotective and anti-inflammatory effect.
