FIELD: pharmaceutical industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the use of protein-free water-soluble polysaccharides as an agent for stimulating production of nitrogen oxide by macrophages. Application of protein-free water-soluble polysaccharides separated from overground part of Saussurea controversa DC, Saussurea salicifolia (L.) DC) or Frolov Saussurea (Saussurea frolovii Ldb.), as an agent for stimulating production of nitrogen oxide by macrophages, which are obtained by preliminary removal of lipophilic and phenol components from plant material, with subsequent extraction and deposition of the sum of polysaccharides, where the plant material is poured with purified water 1:50, extracted, squeezed, after the third extraction, the obtained aqueous extracts are filtered, filtrates are combined and concentrated, then the polysaccharide complex is precipitated with ethanol, then settled, the obtained precipitate is filtered and washed with ethanol until decolouration of the filtrate, precipitate is dried until complete removal of ethanol, followed by purification from protein and admixture of endotoxin.

EFFECT: above described application is effective as an agent for stimulating production of nitrogen oxide by macrophages.
