FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: stress is formed by limiting food intake in rats with only drinking allowed for two days. The animals are placed in an apparatus providing a confined space wherein the animals have a visual contact only but no physical contact. On the third day, a smoke-free propellant charge is fired under the apparatus. The animal's blood is examined for haemoglobin, sodium, uric acid, alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase, the erythrocyte sedimentation rate and the leukocyte count 3 hours after the charge. Their behaviour is assessed within the following 8 hours. The assessment takes into account the following positive responses: hyperactivity, anxiety, fussiness, inability to maintain ground, excessive aggression, zero stools and urinations. The negative responses are also observed: non-responsiveness up to complete immobilisation, inactivity, static response, apastia, cowardice, stools and urinations. Blood is re-analysed 6 days after the beginning of the experiment. The animals' stress level is assessed for the last 2 experimental days by a startle reaction and mental capacity shown by a speed whereat the animal finds a double T-labyrinth exit.
EFFECT: invention provides more reliable model by reconstructing a real-life battle situation, accurate assessment of the tested animal's psychosomatic status.
