FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and can be used in belt drive systems for determination of a mutual position of rotating driving and driven transmission elements. The method of determination of mutual spatial position of mechanical transmission elements by their optical connection consists in, that on one element the receiver with a target is mounted, and on the other element - source of optical connection emitting flat optical beam for the named target. The device for determination of mutual spatial position of mechanical transmission elements contains a source of laser radiation and receiver with a target, mounting support for a source and for receiver with devices of their magnetic fastening to the transmission elements. The named supports are made identical and include a nonmagnetic platform, magnet fixed below, polar tips, orienting fingers, articulately connected with polar tips. From above on the platform of one of supports the radiating source is built - on, and on the other support the target made as transformed and including multiple movable interconnected plane calibrated shields. One of the shields is rigidly fastened to the platform, and the side shields are built - on in articulated manner on axles fixed along the sides of the platform perpendicularly the longitudinal axis of the target.

EFFECT: device ensures high precision of positioning both for outboard surface of sheaves, and for belting grooves with reliable strengthening on two base surfaces - outer diameter of the sheave and side walls of the groove.
