FIELD: measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: device contains the hollow housing with the conductor inside, located along the direction of movement of the medium, EMF sensor with two electrodes connected with amplifier and detector, excitation current transformer, the secondary winding of which form a conductor and housing made as volumetric short-circuited turn. The central electrode of the emf sensor is located at the external surface of the conductor, peripheral one - on the internal surface of the housing. On the conductor along the direction of movement of the medium the alternating current flows with the frequency f for creation of coaxial magnetic field and EMF, induced between the housing and conductor, is detected. In the identified EMF a constant electrochemical component, and components with frequencies differing from f, are excluded. The speed of medium movement is found by the formula: V=2pE/(mm0I), where V - speed of medium, E - EMF, m - magnetic permeability of the medium, m0 - magnetic permeability of vacuum, m0=4r10-7 H/m, I - current.

EFFECT: improvement of accuracy and expansion of range of measurement of speed of conducting medium movement.
