FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method includes manufacturing a blank from a porous carbon-containing material, reinforced with heat-resistant fibres, and its silicification by a steam-liquid phase method. The material of the blank has an ultrathin open-porous structure, obtained by soaking of a fibrous frame with a suspension of soot in a 1% solution of PVA. Heating of the blank in an interval of 1300-1500°C is realised at a pressure in the reactor of not more than 36 mm Hg at a temperature of a silicon vapour higher than the temperature of the blank, and with heating to the final temperature of 1700-1850°C, and isothermal exposure in the said interval of temperatures is carried out in vacuum or at atmospheric pressure in an inert medium in the absence of the said difference of temperatures. When the blank is heated in the interval of 1300-1500°C the temperature of the silicon vapour is by 20-150°C higher than the temperature of the blank and the larger difference of temperatures corresponds to the lower temperature and vice versa.

EFFECT: increased resource of the product service due to an increase of the silicon carbide content in it and reduction of the production cycle.
