FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and may be used to measure a level of liquid, preferably in reservoirs. A level indicator comprises an acoustic line, a processing unit, a float installed on the acoustic line as capable of displacement along it, a conducting element, made as continuous and along the acoustic line adjacent to it for passage into the float hole without friction, a generator of electric pulses, connected to the first inlet of the processing unit and to the conductive element, an acoustic converter connected to the upper end of the acoustic line and to an amplifier-shaper, the outlet of which is connected to the second inlet of the processing unit, and the float comprises the following components arranged coaxially with its hole - a toroidal transformer and an excitation coil with an open magnetic conductor, in which in contrast to the prototype the generator of electric pulses, the conducting element, the toroidal transformer and the excitation coil form a circuit of transformation of an electric pulse generated by the generator for excitation of magnetic striction in the acoustic line, besides, the same pulse is the count pulse for the processing unit.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase reliability and accuracy of measurement by simplification of a device and reduction of signal conversion stages, and also to increase the capacity of a pulse that excites the magnetic striction effect.
