FIELD: instrumentation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to equipment for control and measuring of fluid level mainly in tanks. A magnetostriction level gauge comprises a sensor with a magnetostriction acoustic line put inside a dielectric pipe, winding wound on the dielectric pipe, a float with magnets placed around the insulation shell and able of moving along it, a level identification unit, an electric pulse generator connected to the winding, a piezoelectric receiver and a former of digit pulses from converted electric oscillations from the piezoelectric receiver, the said former is connected to the piezoelectric receiver via an amplifier of converted electric oscillations from the piezoelectric receiver, a unit to define time interval between the moment of magnetoelastic effect formation and the moment of piezoelectric effect formation with the unit inputs being connected respectively to the electric pulse generator and the digit pulse former from the converted electric oscillations from the piezoelectric receiver and its output - to the input of the level identification unit. In contrast to the known device the proposed device comprises a support element with a magnet with the density exceeding the maximal fluid density resting against the vessel bottom and installed at the end of the acoustic line immersed in the fluid.

EFFECT: reduced error of fluid level measurement.
