FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: set of fuel elements or a set of electrolytic elements has power distributing elements with one surface of a planar shape and one surface of a convex shape, applied to at least its upper and lower face sides, and in one version of the invention realisation - additionally to its two lateral face sides. A compression mat and an additionally stiff fixing support ring embrace the set, and thus the set is exposed to the action of a compression force on the upper and lower face sides, and potentially, also on two lateral face sides. The unit is substantially gas impermeable in the axial direction of an initially oval or circular shape and may be equipped with gas-impermeable end plates to form reliable inlet and outlet headers.
EFFECT: increased reliability by exclusion of metal springs.
