PHASE-BASED DIRECTION FINDING METHOD Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC G01S3/46

Abstract RU 2532259 C2

FIELD: physics, navigation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio direction-finding. The direction-finding method is based on receiving signals at two antennae which correspond to first and second phase channels, wherein the antennae are at a distance d from each other; amplifying and limiting, and using a third receiving antenna at an arbitrary distance from the first and second antennae; amplifying and limiting an input signal mixture received by the third antenna; multiplying the signal mixture from the third antenna with a frequency synthesiser signal; selecting a signal mixture at an intermediate frequency; re-multiplying the selected signal mixture with the input signal mixture from the first antenna; selecting a mutual combination component at a combination frequency arising during interaction at a nonlinear element of the signal from the signal mixture from the first antenna and interference from the signal mixture from the third antenna; similar conversion of the signal mixture and selection of the mutual combination component at the same combination frequency for the second antenna, wherein a decision on the presence of combination components at the output of each phase channel is made when the signal strength exceeds a predetermined threshold; for the selected pair of combination components at the same frequency, measuring the phase difference which corresponds to the signal delay time during reception at the first and second antennae; calculating the bearing angle of the radiation source.

EFFECT: high noise-immunity and accuracy of determining angular coordinates.
