FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: method involves preparation of charge from iron-containing raw material, carbon-containing reducing agent, calcium-containing mineral filler and additive acting as substance accelerating cohesion of secondary slag product and facilitating coalescence of formed metal, their dosed mixing, briquetting in a briquette press, removal of excess moisture from the obtained briquettes by treatment in a drying unit and their further high-temperature treatment in a furnace with a rotating bottom with subsequent cooling and separation into metal and slag. Mixture contains 64–71 wt% of iron-containing material, 13.6–19.4 wt% of carbonaceous reducing agent, 2.4–3.2 wt% of calcium-containing mineral filler and 7.7–8.5 wt% of complex binder, the rest – water. Industrial sodium liquid glass is used as an additive acting as a substance which promotes cohesion of the secondary slag product and facilitates coalescence of the formed metal.
EFFECT: disclosed is a technology of producing granular metallic iron in a rotary bottom furnace.
