FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: method can be applied at operation of ICE with indicator diagram recording devices. In order to perform diagnostics of a piston packing, an indicator diagram is recorded in a cylinder in the specified operating mode of the engine. Recording is performed at switched-off fuel feed to the cylinder being diagnosed. Pressure is measured in the diagram at the specified point in an expansion line. The measured value is used for diagnostics. Technical result consists in sufficient improvement of diagnose accuracy. Improvement is achieved due to optimum selection of a location of a measurement point. Selection of the point in a limited section of the expansion line is optimum. Section boundaries - 5 to 15 degrees of turn of a crank shaft from an upper dead point. Pressure in the cylinder in this section mostly responds to the change in technical state of the piston packing.
EFFECT: improvement of defect diagnostics accuracy.
