FIELD: physics, atomic power.
SUBSTANCE: cartridge-type heater is intended for use in nuclear power facilities to heat a liquid-metal heat carrier and comprises an envelope filled with mineral insulation, inside of which there is a U-shaped heating element insulated from the envelope, said element ending with current leads, and also comprises a sealing unit through which both leads of the heating element pass and a spherical plug for the end part; the heating element has a heating area made of a high-resistance metal and "cold" leads made of a low-resistance metal, wherein the cross-section of the cold lead is at least twice greater than that of the lead on the heating area; the heating element has a junction between the "hot" heating area and the "cold" leads, and the heater on the portion between the heating area and the "cold" current leads has a smooth transition from a smaller diameter to a larger diameter; the envelope can be single- or multi-layered and can be made of corrosion- and heat-resistant alloys; the mineral insulation is compacted to 3.1 g/cm3. Modifications of heaters based on said structural solutions can be used in other industries.
EFFECT: engineering solution enables to obtain versions of cartridge-type heaters differing on size and power.
