FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines. This method comprises plotting the indicative graph to be divided into sections to define the properties of polytropies of compression and expansion. Cylinder pressure is changed in step with crankshaft turn angle change at compression and expansion strokes with and without fuel feed under ICE controlled operating conditions. Measured cylinder pressures are reduced to standard atmospheric conditions to fix crankshaft turn angles and to define time intervals corresponding to the latter. Aforesaid properties of polytropies of compression and expansion are defined by the crankshaft turn angle and time intervals. These are compared to reference values to evaluate the operating conditions of cylinder-piston assembly by deviations.

EFFECT: higher accuracy and validity of evaluation.
