FIELD: physics, optics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to optical-electronic follow-up devices intended for search and detection of small low-radiating moving purposes, and can be used in automatic optical-electronic devices (OED) with digital image processing providing selection of the targets in critical background requirements. According to the offered method the continuous line-frame scanning of the field of view and projection by the OED objective lens of the image of the space section to the sensitive layer MFPU are performed. The projected image is converted into array of values of electrical signals and using them the signals of the target and background are formed. The target is identified on the basis of threshold signal processing.

EFFECT: lowering of probability of the error solutions at high intensity noises of the background.
