FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the machine building industry and can be used in structures of machines, mechanisms and namely in bearing assemblies. A method for increasing durability of a bearing assembly having at least one local loading zone of variable stiffness, which includes a shaft neck, a housing and a rolling bearing, consists in the fact that the formation of these zones is performed in the following sequence: first, depending on the standard size of a bearing and an external load acting on it there calculated is an optimum load distribution between rolling bodies to achieve the maximum durability; then, the whole bearing assembly is calculated by means of a finite element method to determine the shape and dimensions of the loading zone restricted by two arcs of circles of the corresponding radii and eccentricities, which provides the optimum load distribution; then, metal is removed by turning and (or) grinding from the internal surface of the bearing housing or from the external surface of the outer bearing race, or from the external or from the internal surface of the race of variable stiffness, which is inserted between the housing and the outer race of the bearing.

EFFECT: increasing durability of the bearing assembly due to the creation of the optimum load distribution between the rolling bodies in the bearing assembly.
