SUBSTANCE: invention relates to controlling dispensing devices and vending machines. To control the state and operation of a dispensing apparatus which comprises one or more modules or submodules, at least one of the modules or submodules is provided with an electronic label, and the apparatus is provided with a label controller designed to interact with the said label by reading, recording and transmitting information to the label, or use the said label, and provides operation of the said dispensing apparatus in accordance with the information received from the said label(s).
