FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used in automation of electrical networks. In a control method of the type of an unstable short circuit at the disappearance of one or all line voltages on a transformer counting of the total time is started, which is equal to the delay time of a protection actuation of and the delay time of automatic reclosing (AR) of the main switch (MS). If two other line voltages disappear at the disappearance of one of the line voltages at the end of the delay time of a protection of MS, and all the line voltages appear on the transformer at the end of delay of MS AR, a conclusion is made on the unstable two-phase SC and successful MS AR. If all the voltages appear on the transformer at the disappearance of all the line voltages in the time equal to the delay time of the protection actuation plus the MS AR delay time, a conclusion is made on the unstable three-phase SC and successful AR of MS. Therefore, information is obtained on the type of the unstable SC at successful MS AR of the line feeding the transformer substation.
