FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: set of inventions relates to the compaction of packs of materials for the agricultural or industrial application. A piston press comprises a compaction chamber with a piston assy, a material feed channel extending into the compaction chamber and driven by a crank gear. The piston assy presses fed portions of the material against the ply of a material of at least one compacted portion and, gradually, displaces it linearly in the compaction chamber. The said piston assy has at least two structurally separate compaction surfaces, the area of each being smaller than the compaction chamber cross-section area. The compaction surfaces are driven parallel with the piston assy reciprocation with a time shift relative to each other. The compacted pack material ply is compressed on separate surfaces with the appropriate time shift between compaction cycles to provide for high density of packs.
