SUBSTANCE: invention relates to geophysics and can be used in marine seismic prospecting. A method and an apparatus for marine seismic prospecting are disclosed. The method includes positioning a submerged movable seismic source and generating perturbations which are transmitted through the water medium in the form of waves which are reflected from the bottom of the water body and different underlying geologic layers. The method includes positioning at least one seismic cable, preferably a series of seismic cables fitted with a series of sensors which pick up said reflected waves such that the seismic cable is in tension through remote-controlled apparatus connected to both its ends, and is also held at a constant depth when taking measurements using equipment holding the seismic cable. Said seismic source is activated once or repeatedly to generate a perturbation or a series of perturbations. Said reflected waves are received using said sensors.
EFFECT: high accuracy of probing data.
