FIELD: seismic investigations. SUBSTANCE: method involves representation of wave field by characteristic compression feature and characteristic speed feature which contains characteristic feature of background noise. Compression feature is filtered and deducted from speed feature in order to achieve almost pure characteristic feature of noise which is added to initial characteristic speed feature with opposite sign in order to prevent influence of new noise and achieve refined value of characteristic speed feature. Then method involves iterating calculation of refined speed feature and its addition to characteristic compression feature using continuous increment of calculation weight for each iteration and self-correlation of resulted sum. Each operation of addition is followed by calculation of convergence weight. Optimal iterating calculation weight is detected by maximal adjacency of convergence weight to one. EFFECT: suppression of reverberation influence on seismic wave fields which have high noise level and are stored in water-logged ground. 10 cl, 6 dwg
