FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method includes oxidation of aniline sulfate with water solution of sodium dichromate to quinine, extraction of quinine with toluene, reduction of toluene extract in water solution and separation by known methods. After dosing of sodium dichromate water solution mixture is exposed at 5°C for not less than 2 hours; as reducing agent of toluene extract of quinine, used is hydrazine hydrate water solution, dosed in mixing and at temperature from 5 to 8°C into mixture of 4 volumes of toluene extract of quinine with 1 volume of water solution, containing 3-5% manganese (II) sulfate, mixture is exposed with mixing for 1 hour, settled, toluene is separated and hydroquinone is isolated from water solution by known methods.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to obtain hydroquinone with high purity, chromaticity not higher than 12 and high output.
