FIELD: physics, navigation.
SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to radar. In the method, which is based on measuring angular coordinates of targets from radio-frequency radiation reflected by said targets and calculating range to a target using passive radar stations, the radio-frequency radiation source used is a radar station located beyond the horizon, with known coordinates and parameters of signals (probes), with constant or variable periods of radiation thereof, which illuminates a controlled area; the method comprises determining the time of receiving a probe reflected by a target; calculating the moment the radar station located beyond the horizon emits a probe; determining the range to other targets from which at least one of the passive radar stations receives a reflected probe; performing primary capture thereof and switching to autotracking thereof using said passive radar station; upon receiving a reflected probe, establishing the probable position of the time of emission of the probe and calculating range to newly detected targets illuminated by said probe; when necessary, recalculating the time of emission of the probe and, based on said value, specifying the range to targets and velocities of said targets. The disclosed method is carried out by a system for determining coordinates of targets, which is a multiposition radar made in a certain manner.
EFFECT: continuous prolonged and concealed determination of all coordinates of targets in a far control area while reducing the number of passive radar stations spread in space.
