SUBSTANCE: invention relates to timber harvesting using air logging of timber, particularly on steep slopes of more than 20° with densely growing tree stand, where the use of conventional trail tractors are forbidden, as well as on the slopes with frequent height difference and with the accordingly changing angles of slopes, with wet ground and soils that are susceptible to erosion processes. In the method of timber harvesting on steep slopes with use of aerostatic-cable system, felling trees is carried out and trailing them to the unloading point, which is conducted through the air with the use of cargo suspension, and the aerostat is made "onion"-shaped. Felling trees is carried out using felling and bunching machine with a floating cabin, and the aerostatic-cable system is equipped with a control system to move the aerostat with a clamshell and a board electric winch. In the method three additional radio-controlled electric terrestrial winches are used, as well as electric cables, delimbing-crosscutting processor, a cutting plant, mini power plant working on wood chips, for example, in the form of a current generator to power the electric motors of terrestrial winches serving to move the aerostat, the on-board electric winch for lowering the cargo suspension of the aerostat with a clamshell.

EFFECT: method provides improved performance, environmental friendliness, elimination of manual labour and reduction of cost of works.
