FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radar engineering and can be used in radio engineering and aviation industry. The method of stabilising travelling-wave tube (TWT) parameters when tuning a transmitter includes making separate components and units, tuning and testing the units, assembling the components and the units into a device and tuning the assembled device. The assembled device is tuned in two steps. At the first step, a transmitter is connected without a TWT to an additional device which includes a TWT equivalent and an inspection device; all necessary modes are established for subsequent connection of the TWT: establishing electrical modes which correspond to separate values of the TWT, checking the order of turning on and off the TWT, checking stability of supply values of the TWT when input supply voltages of the transmitter change, checking that there are no faults in the transmitter, checking parameters of the modulating pulse for the TWT, tuning the transmitter. At the second step, the additional device is disconnected, terminals of the TWT are connected to the transmitter and further tuning is performed.
EFFECT: high reliability of a microwave transmitter in the 8 mm wavelength range with a pulsed TWT.
