FIELD: physics, navigation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of processing geomagnetic data. The method includes measuring a geomagnetic field from mobile carriers on a network of control and planned tie lines; correcting the measured geomagnetic field values for carrier deviation and difference in height of observations; wherein a magnetic-variation station is installed at the point closest to the survey area and geomagnetic field variations are measured during survey. A map of geomagnetic field variations according to transmission time is constructed based on the data of the magnetic-variation station on survey lines. Additional tie lines are drawn on the obtained map based on extreme values of geomagnetic field variations. Observations are coupled on the control, planned and additional tie lines. Variation adjustments are also estimated. A digital model of the map of the geomagnetic field is constructed based on the coupled values. The obtained digital model is smoothed on artificial tie lines orthogonal to the control tie lines until random deviations are eliminated. The obtained random deviations are considered as residual disparities along the control lines. The residual disparities are smoothed along the control lines and a characteristic component is selected, which is taken as an estimate of additional variations on control lines. Overall variation is calculated based on the additional variations and variations obtained by coupling control lines with real tie lines. The overall adjustment is used as a null approximation for variation adjustments on control and real tie lines when re-coupling or is input into observations on control lines, to which the field is coupled on real tie lines. If the coupling error does not exceed a given value, the variation adjustments used are overall adjustments, which are taken into account in geomagnetic field values measured on profiles.
