FIELD: geography.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to magnetic prospecting and in particular to the cartographic method for mapping the Earth's magnetic field. Method of refining the navigation of old magnetic surveys, performed with large coordination errors, contains a magnetic profile map of the observed magnetic field module in the coordinates (x, y), a digital model of a map in a rectangular network of points and its average quadratic error. At the same time, according to the given binding profiles, a modern high-precision magnetic survey is performed in the old coordinates with high-precision satellite navigation, the position on the map is determined by a correlation method, the intersections of the modern route with the old routes are found on the magnetic profile map. At the intersection of old routes with new ones, new high-precision coordinates are assigned, the remaining points of the old routes get coordinates assigned to them, obtained by a parallel to itself transfer in the new coordinate system of the whole old route and/or its part, located between two modern routes, so that the found point of the maximal correlation of the old route field is in the point of maximum correlation of the new route field. Coordinates of all the old routes are specified in such a way.

EFFECT: technical result of the claimed invention is to improve the accuracy of old maps used for geological mapping and mineral prospecting in water areas.
