FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: device consists of a sealed body and a remote lightning rod. Steel wires are used as the lightning rod. Lightning strike is initiated by optical breakdown of the air induced by a beam of a pulse infrared laser. Direction of the ionising beam is set by a controlled flat and moving mirror. This mirror is used simultaneously in the system for optical scanning of the atmosphere. The induced lightning is propagated along the ionised channel and strikes the lightning rod when it reaches its level. Current pulse generated at the lightning strike is transformed by Tesla transformer. A series-oscillatory circuit is included into the device composition.
EFFECT: receipt of alternative renewable electric energy using the device in the areas of high thunderstorm activity, lightning protection of the facilities and expansion of the lightning protection area.
