FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to self-hardening grafted copolymer of oil polyol with hydroxyl functional groups, to thermally hardened covering composition, suitable for coatings of packages and containers, as well as to method of substrate covering and to substrate. Grafted polymer is obtained in two stages. At stage one epoxidised vegetable oil is subjected to interaction with polyol, containing hydroxyl functional groups, in presence of catalyst of strong acid type. Reaction is carried out at temperature from 50 to 200°C. At stage two obtained oil polyol with hydroxyl functional groups interacts with unsaturated monomer component of ethylene type in presence of initiator. Thermally hardened covering composition is obtained by cross-linking of obtained grafted copolymer of oil polyol by cross-linking agent. Method of substrate covering consists in application of said composition on substrate and its cross-linking. Coated substrate is in contact with food or drink.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase corrosion stability of coating, which has high content of solid substances.
