FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to locomotive diesel coolant warm-up process at warmed-up idling before starting. Proposed method consists in intermittent starting of warmed-up diesel to heat this diesel and its cooling system. Note here that diesel shutdown occurs automatically at preset working temperature of diesel cooling system of higher heat capacity, irrespective of ambient temperature. Diesel is automatically starts at cooling system element of higher heat capacity cooling to preset temperature or at temperature decrease below permissible level in said cooling system element of lower heat capacity. Note here that after diesel shutdown, coolant is pumped through the entire diesel cooling system.
EFFECT: higher fuel efficiency, longer life of storage battery.
