SUBSTANCE: invention relates to virtual keyboards. The method includes recognising a keyboard launch gesture by a user on a touch screen; displaying a semitransparent preliminary keyboard image on the touch screen as a response to the keyboard launch gesture, wherein the semitransparent preliminary keyboard image has a relatively higher transparency than the keyboard while the user is still touching the touch screen; moving the semitransparent preliminary keyboard image on the touch screen according to the touch, wherein the semitransparent preliminary keyboard image remains semitransparent during movement; determining that the user is no longer touching the touch screen and, when the user is no longer touching the touch screen, replacing the semitransparent preliminary keyboard image on the touch screen with a keyboard.
EFFECT: faster launch of a virtual keyboard.
