FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to trapping magnetic particles held on a magnetic plug, designed to hold magnetic particles by a magnet, said particles being formed from wearing of components, e.g., rotating components located in a housing with equipment or in an aircraft engine. An apparatus for trapping magnetic particles held on a magnetic plug having an end holder and a magnetised element designed to hold magnetic particles comprises: magnetisation means, a chamber which includes: an opening, at least one injector nozzle which can feed a gaseous medium into the chamber under pressure. The nozzle is directed such that a stream of the gaseous medium removes magnetic particles held on the magnetised element towards the bottom of the chamber. The magnetisation means are installed to hold particles deposited at the bottom of the chamber by magnetisation. In the chamber, the magnetic plug can be arranged such that the magnetised element is located inside the chamber and the end holder is located outside the chamber. The opening is configured to be closed by the end holder. The apparatus enables to carry out a method which includes inserting the magnetic plug through the opening in the chamber such that the magnetised element of the plug which holds magnetic particles is located inside the chamber and the end holder of the plug is located outside the chamber to close the opening in the chamber; injecting compressed, preferably filtered air, though one injector nozzle or injector nozzles such that particles held on the magnetic element are moved to the bottom of the chamber; capturing the particles deposited at the bottom of the chamber using the magnetisation means and trapping the particles.

EFFECT: high efficiency of trapping particles held on a magnetic plug.
