SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medical equipment, namely to cavity sizing units, particularly patient's pulmonary air bladders. A device for sizing a cavity, wherein aerosol containing magnetic particles is administered comprises a selection unit comprising a selection field signal generator unit and selection field generation elements for generating the magnetic selection field having such space structure of magnetic field intensity that a first sub-zone having a low magnetic field intensity and a second sub-zone having a higher magnetic field intensity are formed in a visual field; the device also comprise an excitation unit comprising excitation field signal generator units and excitation field coils for measuring a space position of two sub-zones, a receiving unit comprising at least one signal reception unit, and at least one receiving coil for receiving detection signals, and a processing unit for sizing the cavity. A method for sizing the cavity consists in using the device.
EFFECT: using the invention enables providing the higher definition of the detection signals.
