FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method of making sculptures or copies thereof includes a step of scanning a physical object with a contactless three-dimensional (3D) scanner used to scan the physical object or part of the physical object; a step of processing the scanning data, which includes processing the set of data obtained at the scanning step to obtain a digital model of the scanned object or digital models of separate parts of the scanned object, with optional adjustment of the obtained digital model, including scaling thereof, as well as preparation of control programs for producing a physical model of the sculptured object or separate parts thereof with one of fast prototyping techniques; a step of forming a physical model of the object, which includes using the set of fast prototyping control programs obtained at the step of processing scanning data to form a physical model of the object or physical models of separate parts thereof, wherein when making a physical model of multiple parts, said parts are assembled and connected at said step; the method also includes a step of preprocessing the surface of the physical model of the sculptured object, which includes abrasive processing of the surface thereof; a step of applying a current-conducting layer on the surface of the physical model obtained at the preprocessing step; a step for nickel-coating the surface after applying the current-conducting layer of the physical model; a step of copper-coating the surface after applying the current-conducting layer of the physical model.

EFFECT: reduced amount of expensive metals needed to make sculptures and shorter time for making sculptures.
