FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: in product longitudinally moving at a speed of V (m/s) in the plane, perpendicular to its movement, a vortex current is excited by means of eddy current transmission-type converter, the voltage corresponding to change of its electromagnetic field is measured, the received signal is processed by means of low and high frequency filtration, amplified in the amplifier, converted into a digital pattern and after electronic processing the defect is ranged by comparison of the obtained result with the results from the statistical database. Excitement of vortex currents in an inspected product is performed by the use in the eddy current converter of, at least, one powerful permanent magnet, rigidly fixed with the axially installed sensor of change of the electromagnetic field induced by vortex current in the inspected object which is coaxially installed to it; the electronic processing is performed by the software developed on the basis of the statistical database made by results of measurement in samples with artificial defects.

EFFECT: improvement of accuracy of determination of defects at any depth of their location.
