FIELD: packaging industry.

SUBSTANCE: in a device for formation of an open bottom in an open end zone of a hose housing of a bag, bag housings are transported in a flatly laid state in the transportation direction across their longitudinal length at a transportation speed by means of a transportation device, and end zones are opened by means of an opening device. An expanding tool is introduced into an open end zone of the hose housings of bags during their transportation on a transportation device and moves in transportation direction at a speed that is increased relative to transportation speed till it is borne in the front part of the open end zone with front contour points against an inner side of the hose housing of the bag. With that, it expands the front part to the front angular turn-up in the form of an isosceles triangle. After formation of the angular turn-up, the expandable tool is brought out of the front angular turn-up due to relative retardation of its movement in comparison to the transportation speed. The angular turn-up is pressed by means of a clamping device. The expandable tool is made in the form of a separated tool; with that, on one lever there installed are two plates or rods, between which there is such a distance that the clamping device projects into the expandable tool or can pass through it without any collision with it; the expandable tool is borne at translational movement in the transportation direction against the inner side of the hose housing of the bag.
