FIELD: atomic physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of filling water into and removing air from the main circuit (1) of a water-cooled nuclear reactor. The method includes a step of placing a connection and fluid isolation device (30) which is connected to a hot leg (3) of each cooling loop (11, 12) of the main circuit so as to substantially insulate, from inside of the vessel, the assembly of hot legs. The method also includes a step of injecting water through an injection circuit (50) on at least one hot leg (3) until each cooling loop is filled with water with removal of air from a steam generator (6) and until the water level (20) in the vessel reaches above the side openings (21) of the vessel that correspond to the loops (11, 12), after which the connecting device (30) is taken out of the vessel. The invention also relates to a connecting device (30) having telescopic connection elements (321).
EFFECT: preventing formation of air pockets.
