FIELD: nuclear technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a nuclear reactor (1) with pressurised water. The fluid of the primary circuit (100) enters the vessel (10) of the reactor (1) through the inlet (13) and exits through the outlet (14), passing through the entire core (30). Sinput therein constitutes a cross section of one inlet (13) of the first circuit (100) up to the vessel (10), a second circuit (200) fluid-insulated from the primary circuit (100) wherein the fluid of the second water-based circuit circulates, containing at least one steam generator (210) and configured to absorb the heat of the primary circuit (100) and convert the heat into steam in the steam generator (210). Reactor (1) also includes a safety system containing a safety apparatus containing at least one explosive apparatus (216) configured to explode, destructing the insulation between the second circuit (200) and the primary circuit (100) so as to form a passage allowing the flow of the fluid of the second circuit inside the primary circuit (100).
EFFECT: prevented indentation of the reactor vessel along the periphery of the downcomer due to the focusing effect in case of an accidental core melting.
