FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method is based on determining content of particles in a preparation, the colour of which is different from that particles of the basic substance of the preparation when illuminated with both visible and ultraviolet radiation. Since the luminescence colour is a specific characteristic of the phosphor, particles of another colour are most probably impurity particles. Quantitative determination of the volume ratio of said particles is impractical. The surface ratio of regions having a colour different from that of the phosphor is determined. The surface ratio of the regions is determined as the ratio of the area of regions on an image to the area of the entire image. The value of the surface ratio of the regions corresponding to microinclusions gives the upper estimate of the volume ratio of microinclusions.

EFFECT: high quality of light-emitting articles based on organic and organometallic phosphors.
