FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to synthesis of ammonia from conditioned gas containing hydrogen and nitrogen. An ammonia apparatus for producing ammonia, wherein ammonia blowout gas (20) is fed into an extraction unit which includes cooling means (102, 202, 302, 402, 502) and phase separators, arranged in a cascade and including a high pressure separator (103, 203, 303, 403, 503) operating at loop pressure and a separator operating at substantially lower pressure than the loop pressure (205, 206, 305); wherein the blowout gas (20) is first cooled to cryogenic temperature to achieve partial liquefaction of methane and argon, and the cooled stream is then divided in the high pressure separator into a gaseous stream and a low liquid product, which is then fed into a lower pressure separator. The gaseous stream containing nitrogen and hydrogen at loop pressure (123, 223, 323, 423, 523a) is reheated in a heat exchanger channel, removed and returned to the synthesis loop (1) at loop pressure.
EFFECT: invention enables to achieve high degree of extraction of nitrogen from blowout gas with minimum compressor power and low power consumption, and also reduces content of inert impurities in the synthesis loop.
