FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pipe drawing at one-piece self-setting mandrel and can be used for pipe production from various materials for machine building. Proposed process comprises forming of head at pipe billet, application of process lubricant, placing and displacing the mandrel inside the billet to head base and subsequent drawing. Mandrel is displaced to make the cold forming head by compressed air feed at definite pressure or head forming by both cold and hot forming by application of pulse load to generator mandrel to ensure a definite rate of mandrel initial displacement.
EFFECT: lower costs of processing tools and labour input, decreased amount of rejects.
