FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal working. Proposed process comprises bonding of several piston rings 1 to one stack P, machining of the stack outer cylindrical surface 2, 2′ and application thereon a wear-proof galvanic chromium coating 3. Wear-proof coating 3 is applied at permanent depth over the while stack P and machined to get working surface 4 with one zone of maximum coating ply depth and one zone of minimum coating ply depth. Piston ring thus made features wear-proof galvanic chromium coating 3 with outline that follows that of working surface 4.

EFFECT: simplified production, optimum working performances.
