A computing device includes instructions which, when executed by a processor, instruct the processor to: create a business data catalogue module which accesses data located in an internal data storage and an external data storage, and performs operations over said data, wherein the business data catalogue module receives a data request, determines whether the data are located in the internal data storage or the external data storage, and accesses data located in the external data storage, and create an external data providing module which provides data accessed from the external storage, wherein the external data providing module displays data from the external data storage for provision thereof on a client computing device. A user can access data from the external data storage and perform operations over said data as if the data were from the internal data storage.

EFFECT: providing efficient access to external data storages.
