FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to grey iron alloy and can be used to manufacture the brake disks of vehicles. Grey iron contains in wt %: C: ≤4.2%, Si: <1.30%, Mn: 0.4-0.8%, Nb: 0.05-0.4%, Cr: ≤0.4%, Cu: ≤0.7%, V+Ti+Mo: ≤0.4%, P: <0.05%, S: <0.1%, rest - Fe and inevitable admixtures, at that the following condition is met: Sc = %C/(4.26-0.317*(%Si)+0.027(%Mn)-0.3(%P))>1, where Sc is degree of saturation.
EFFECT: invention linked with development of the beneficial composition of the grey iron having high thermomechanical fatigue resistance and high wear resistance.
