FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: tested product surface is scanned under identical conditions during its life cycle, information produced from scanning is read, converted and processed, the product surface image is visualised with subsequent comparison of results of current and previous scanning. A previously demagnetized product is magnetized by monotonously rising magnetic field to the value of magnetic induction corresponding to maximum value of magnetic permeability of material. Then scanning is started, as a result of visualisation the magnetic image of the tested product surface is produced at the current moment, and after its comparison with the previously produced magnetic image of the surface of the same product in initial condition they decide on availability of zones of localisation of plastic deformations in it, number of these zones and their arrangement in the product.

EFFECT: provision of the possibility to detect zones of localisation of plastic deformation by simple, reliable and highly sensitive method in tested products, which precede appearance of macrodefects in them both before application of deforming forces to them and in process of deformation.
