FIELD: quality control; measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: method involves performing multiple control in scanning product under identical conditions in given time intervals between scanning operations. Control signals are recorded at rejection threshold level. The recorded signals are processed by comparing the signals of the current and previous scanning operation. The degree (risk) of defect development is evaluated according to known criteria. The scanned signals are recorded at additional threshold levels selected below the rejection threshold level. Signals exceeding the rejection threshold level being detected, signals received in the given region of the product under control in the current and previous scanning operations using amplitude levels below the rejection threshold level are also taken into consideration. Decisions on the detected defect dangerousness degree are taken on the basis of the analysis results. The number of the additional recording threshold levels below the rejection threshold level k is to satisfy the k≥1 condition. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy and reliability of ultrasonic control. 3 dwg
