METHOD OF VISUALISATION OF CEREBRAL VESSELS Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC A61B8/06

Abstract RU 2454936 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ultrasonic diagnostics, and is intended for visualisation of cerebral vessels. Ultrasonic examination of vessels is performed. Sensor is installed near anterior edge of sternocleidomastoid muscle and parallel to it, at the level of lower jaw angle. Ultrasonic ray is directed towards opposite eye socket. By method of duplex scanning at scanning depth 4-5 cm cisternal segment and siphon of cavernous segment of internal carotid artery, cavernous sinus, ophthalmic artery and vein on the side of examination are visualised. Sensor is installed near posterior edge of sternocleidomastoid muscle and parallel to it, at the level of lower edge of mastoid process. Ray is directed towards eye socket on the side of examination and, by changing angle of sensor inclination, by method of duplex scanning at scanning depth 4-5 cm the remaining segments of intracranial part of internal carotid artery on the side of examination is visualised.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to estimate hemodynamics of carotid-cavernous complex, identify pathologic changes of blood flow in ophthalmic artery and veins.
