SUBSTANCE: hair clipping device (1) contains a body (3) and a replaceable comb unit (2) for determination of hair length after clipping. The body (3) contains the comb contact surface for detachable fixation of the comb unit (2) inside the body (3) as well as a hair length indicator (7) functionally connected to the comb contact surface for indication of hair length to the user. The replaceable comb unit (2) contains the bomb identification element (11, 13) identifying the hair length associated with the comb unit (2). The comb contact surface contains the comb recognition means (10, 14a-b) that is electrically connected to the hair length indicator (7) and designed so that to enable recognition of the comb identification element (11, 13) when the comb unit (2) is connected to the body (3) with the possibility of giving an electronic signal indicative of the hair length associated with the comb unit (2) to the hair length indicator (7).
