FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medicine. A method for measuring an individual's heart rate and/or heart rate variability is implemented by means of a device and is applicable for monitoring and/or for determining heart failure cases. When diagnosing the heart failure, the device generates an alarm signal. The device comprises a holder for placing the individual's part of the body and a motion sensor functionally connected to the holder. The holder is configured to be movable horizontally in relation to the base. The motion sensor is configured to measure the individual's motion signal horizontally. The motion sensor correlates with an electrical motion sensor and comprises a capacitor with an electric capacity formed between the first and second electrodes. The first electrode is fixed in relation to the base, while the second electrode - in relation to the holder. That is combined with measuring the individual's horizontal motion signal in relation to the base. The individual's part of the body lies on the holder and rests against it. The signal is measured by means of the electric capacity of the capacitor.
EFFECT: using the group of inventions enables measuring the heart rate and/or heart rate variability reliably or discreetly with using no sensors attached to the individual's body or adjacent the individual's body.
