FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: monitoring method for monitoring the hemodynamic status of a subject is carried out using a hemodynamic status monitoring system. Images of the subject are obtained from a remote distance over time through an imaging unit. Sensor signal of the subject is obtained, associated with an indicator of the vital function of the subject, through a sensor unit. Photo-plethysmography (PPG) sensor signals are generated from various points on the body of the subject on said images through a photoplethysmography unit. Using an evaluation unit, general evaluation of the sensor signal and PPG signals is carried out, pulse wave arrival time (PAT) measurements are derived from the sensor signal and the PPG signals and hemodynamic information is extracted from the hemodynamic status of the subject from said PAT measurements.

EFFECT: improved system and method for monitoring the hemodynamic status of the subject which provides continuous monitoring with low technical effort, increased comfort and increased security for the subject, and which would be particularly useful for monitoring preterm infants.
